Walthamstow School for Girls
900 11-16-year-olds attend this single sex community school. Described by Ofsted as “good” with some outstanding teaching, in 2016, 78% of year 11 pupils achieved 5 plus A* – C grades including English and Maths.
The jewel in the crown of this ‘good’ mixed school is its sixth form. In 2016, 61% of A level grades were A*- B, enabling students to gain places at Cambridge, Warwick and Bristol Universities. In the same year, 68% of the academy’s GCSE students achieved 5 A* to C grades.
Forest School is Walthamstow’s best known independent school. Its 1369 pupils are taught in single sex classes and last year, 71% of year 11 students gained at least 5 A*- A grades. In addition to the excellent academic teaching, the school also offers a rich variety of extracurricular opportunities.
