Remembering Summer: Walthamstow Village Festival

January 15, 2015

With summer and the festive season firmly behind us we thought we would revisit another standout event from last summer. If you were lucky enough to attend the Walthamstow Village Festival on Saturday 2nd August 2014, you would have felt a sheer buzz, excitement or maybe rumbling in your belly for the fun, food, and music available throughout the whole event. The streets were jam packed with locals enjoying the great British summer, albeit with a typically British light shower. However, the rain did not put a damper on the proceedings as the hardy British public stuck it out and continued to frolic.

Walking through the Village, your sense’s would have been captivated by the beautifully haunting, 12th century ‘St Mary’s Church’. The sights and fragrance of amazing foods from all corners of the globe and the sounds of children messing around, while their parents struggle to keep a hold of their freshly brewed drinks kept visitors engaged.

There was a delight for the ears too, with the soulful tones of Walthamstow’s own ‘Tina T’, who has also been performed recently at the Walthamstow Garden Party, and the Chingford Big Weekender.

As the day wound on, hungry belly’s had a plethora of delights to indulge themselves. The Village Fest catered for a fine selection of items for the food lovers ranging from homemade chicken kebabs, freshly grilled tuna steak burgers, slow smoked pulled pork rolls to simply freshly grilled chicken skewers. We can assure you the food was as amazing as the atmosphere during the event.

For the lucky ones who attended and investigated the many nooks and crannies, along with the deliciously sweet cakes, outstanding cask ales from the local brewers was also available. Homemade craft work was also on show inside The Asian Centre as well as the sensual moves of the belly dancer.

However you chose to enjoy yourselves at the Walthamstow Village Festival, one thing was guaranteed, whatever your pleasure, you would have found something to indulge yourself. If you were part of the Village Fest and enjoyed reading our blog we would love to hear from you.
