Waltham Estates to sponsor team at charity football event

October 2, 2015

Here at Waltham Estates, we want to see the local community prosper. We are always looking to nurture and support local events and celebrations. We want to give back to the area that we benefit from working in, as often as we can.

Our latest campaign is to part-take in the upcoming 6-aside football tournament, being held in Walthamstow later this month. There is a dynamic and vibrant youth population in Walthamstow, who all too frequently in the past have suffered from a lack of sporting outlets and facilities. We are delighted to come on board and help support this long overdue football tournament. After all, healthy living and team-spirit are cornerstones of a prosperous community.

What’s great about this tournament is that all proceeds will go to Noor Ul Islam, the local mosque near our offices on Hoe Street. We are passionate about helping our local community groups, be they churches, mosques or youth groups, that have a positive effect of the community.

Noor ul Islam is a mosque established in 1990 and has grown considerably over the past 25 years to the point where a new multi purpose building was required. The new facility will house two gyms (inc ladies only gym), I.T suite, library, cafe, banqueting hall and space to run the various youth activities such as karate and boxing as well as being an open-door mosque. It has been a dawah base centre and will continue being this, hosting many events for non Muslims’

If you would like to pop along and support this great cause the event details are as follow.

The tournament takes place on Saturday the 10th of October, at Match Day Centres on Kitchener Road E17 4JP, which is just off North Circular Road, at the Crooked Billet end. If you are travelling by public transport Match Day centres are a 15 minutes walk from Walthamstow Central station. There is parking available on the day, conveniently located on site. The event begins at 11:30 and will run until 6pm.

To enter, each team needs to deposit £100 and field a 6 aside team. Teams can bring up to 3 substitute players. There will of course be match-day referees. Trophies, medals and prize money is up for grabs.

We will be sponsoring and fielding a team of our own employees, so good luck to them!  Anyone can get involved and the more the merrier on the day!
If you like the sound of this event and are interested in participating please download the official flyer.
